3 Michigan hospitals ‘at risk’ of closing due to Trump Medicaid cuts

UNC researchers identified three Michigan hospitals among 300+ nationwide that may not survive Medicaid cuts recently signed by President Donald Trump.Since House Republicans have been in charge of the budget process, they have failed students, schools and teachers. While House Democrats are here to work and get the job done for the people of Michigan, Republicans are nowhere to be found.
Session today was no attendance and no voting while there still has not been serious movement on a state education budget. This uncertainty creates real problems for school districts around the state who are currently planning for the upcoming year. The legislature has not only a responsibility, but also a requirement in statute to pass a budget by July 1st. I am extremely disappointed by the inability of House Republicans to do the work in order for that obligation to be met.
Access to health insurance is access to dignity, safety and opportunity. After Republican Medicaid cuts, Michigan families will pay more for health insurance because when coverage disappears, costs don't just go away — they just get passed down to you.
